Transitions and change whether voluntary or not can be quite challenging. This is never more true than for expatriates who, due to multiple reasons begin a new life in often unfamiliar and often confusing new places . The excitement of 'the new place,' can be diminished by uncertainties, unfamiliarities and isolation due to language/culture. Studies show that the expat experience can be challenging for even the hardiest of explorers and adventurers. In addition to the new, often overwhelming experiences, expats are also impacted by what John Kabat-Zinn describes as the truest of human conditions ..."wherever you go..there you are."
